Are you retired or semi retired?

Do you have some spare time on a Saturday afternoon?

We need you!

The Drummoyne Sailing Club, Hartley TS16 & 16 foot Skiffs fleets are in need of volunteers to man the DSC Starters boat, DSC Support boat, DSC base radio and the Electric winch for each Saturday afternoon’s sailing races for the 2018 to 2019 sailing season starting the first week in September 2018.

We are looking for people, male or female, to fill each role. The volunteers would meet at the DSC on Saturday race days around 12:00.

Starter boat race officials are required to assist in starting and finishing the Hartley TS16’s and the 16ft Skiff fleets. You will be instructed and supported by very experienced DSC sailing race officials.

Two volunteers are required as well for the DSC Support boat. A driver and a crew. It is required for the support boat driver to have their boat license and Support Boat Operator qualification, and the crew to be over 16 years of age. If you do not have a power boat driving license the DSC may help with the required training and driving experience for you to obtain your power boat license. The support boat personnel set the course markers, as well as monitoring and helping any sailing crews that may require assistance.

The winch operator would help launch the boats by operating the electric winch from 1pm to approximately 1:45pm, then help retrieve the boats by operating the electric winch around 4:30pm.

A base radio operator at the Drummoyne Sailing Club is required from approximately 1pm to approximately 5pm to relay communications and messages between the starters boat, rescue boats and the sailing fleets.

No winch or radio experience is necessary. The duties are not complex and all people will be given adequate training and instructions.

After the sailing race has been completed we put on a delicious afternoon tea for all the DSC sailing competitors and volunteers.

It’s a warm and very friendly environment and this volunteer work is greatly needed and would be appreciated by the DSC sailors.
