Several Drummoyne Sailing Club OK Dinghy Sailors competed in the recent 57th Australian OK Dinghy Championship at Black Rock Yacht Club in the Bayside suburbs of Melbourne around New Year.

Characteristic of this time of year, the conditions were variable and a variety of conditions were experienced over the six days of racing, from light conditions to the much celebrated “Black Rock” sea breezes and waves.

Drummoyne sailors performed well with Peter Robinson in 5th, James Bevis 7th, Grant Wakefield 10th, Andrew Thyrd 27th, David Haseldine 28th and Mike Walker 37th.

Notable was Grant Wakefield’s win in race nine in light conditions – his first Nationals race win and helped boost him to a top-10 overall place.
