Hartley TS16

Skipper Chris Giaquinto (Right), and his crew, Ian Bishop after race 2   Race 2. The first scheduled race of the season, September 7, was abandoned due to strong wind, a WSW ranging from 25 to 35 knots. The first actual race of the season was for the President’s Trophy, on September 14. A handicap race, Helen Joy was first across the line, with Vinca recording the fastest time. Helen Joy also won the handicap the following week with Ultimately Sinister taking fastest time. Skipper Chris Giaquinto has been sailing for 11 years, every one of them in a TS16. His crew, Ian Bishop who has sailed since he was a boy, was just filling in for two weeks.  Chris said they got ‘100 per cent’. The two wins, followed by a third place in race 4, have dropped Helen Joy’s handicap from 7 down to scratch. It has been a great start to the season and Chris said he was feeling fantastic. He thinks he is being more consistent and his sailing is improving.
